Explorer's Salon
EXPLORER'S SALON
Earlier this month, an invitation found its way to you. If you're in the Barracks, it probably slipped quietly under your door. If you live beyond the Castle walls, a courier pigeon — feathered and determined — likely dropped it at your doorstep. Just like last time, opening that invite might spark a little curiosity about the festivities. After all, you’ve got nothing to lose by showing up, right?
Fellow Wanderers and Wayfarers,
We stand at the midpoint of our service as royal advisors. Yet the world remains vast, filled with tales still untold. It is time to gather at the crossroads of our journeys. You are cordially invited to the EXPLORER'S SALON, an evening devoted to sharing stories, dreams, and plans for the roads ahead.
Passports will be granted upon arrival. Bring only your spirit of adventure and a readiness to forge new memories.
Where: The Bellvine Hill Community Hall
When: The 22nd day of April
Let us carve paths and friendships that no distance can sever.
With Honour and Light,
Monoco
Constable of the Crown's Atelier; Guardian of the Royal Warrant; Chevalier
in service to House Dessendre
and
Verso Dessendre
Comte de la Lumière
The following addendum reads like two hosts squabbling over who gets the final word:
And yes, there will be prizes. Because who can resist some friendly competition?
- Verso
A fool, that's who.
- Monoco
Especially when I'm the one giving the prizes.
- Verso
Only the poorly disciplined need an incentive.
- Monoco
We'll let our guests decide. The point is, there will be prizes.
- Verso
Good.
- Monoco
Good.
- Verso
Yes, quite good.

ARRIVAL
At the threshold, Verso, along with a couple of volunteers, warmly greets you and presses a cute passport into your hands. These passports are handcrafted by Bulat, Yoojin, Artoria, Cheria, and Dainsleif — each one a small work of art. Keep yours safe! This little book is your personal souvenir, a tiny vault for the memories you'll gather and the stamps you'll collect this evening.
Beyond the foyer, the Main Salon unfolds in an inviting half-moon of polished hardwoods and cushioned benches. Here, the bounty of the islands is always within reach. You'll find an array of seafood bites and fruit preserves alongside spirits infused with local blooms and cooling herbal teas. Whether you're looking for a quick refreshment or a slow sip, you'll find that in this house, you never have to want for a thing.
- To the left, a few adjacent mini-parlours offer velvet wingback chairs and a chance to visit with friends in a more intimate space, overseen by enchanted chandeliers that change colour in reaction to your mood.
- To the right, a marble bar is stocked with an array of ingredients, mixing tools, and prompts that invite you to get a little messy with friends, concocting drinks that taste of memories and what-ifs.
- Through the glass doors, a sheltered corner of the courtyard waits beneath a vine-covered pergola. Here, the Traveller’s Cairn sits in the dappled shade, a quiet invitation to add your own stone to the collective history of those who have passed through Bellvine Hill tonight.
Other places of note:
Musician’s Loft - A raised balcony with a low railing overlooking the Main Salon, where a small ensemble plays music. The loft is intimate, with rugs and cushions for listeners who want to stay and listen. Good for relaxing and calming down.
Calyx Observatory - A terrace filled with brass sundials, celestial globes, and an orrery tuned to the Calyx’s phases. The pieces are polished and labelled with old voyage dates and notable celestial events. Ideal for quiet stargazing or a contemplative pause between activities.
Portrait Gallery - A narrow, softly lit corridor hung with portraits of travellers, patrons, and notable past salons. Gilded frames are softened by climbing ivy; some portraits subtly shift posture or expression as you pass. A few enchanted canvases offer brief sensory echoes when you stand close... like a roar of waves from a sailor’s portrait, the warm spice of a merchant’s travels, or a single remembered line from a long‑ago guest.
A hush of gossip has fluttered through Bellvine... rumor says a private benefactor quietly reserved the hall tonight for royal advisors. Salons in Rosavelle are usually open to all, so this is an uncommon treat! The Explorer's Salon is your chance to roam, daydream about distant horizons, and strike up new connections with the people beside you.
The hall feels lived-in and elegant, but never forbidding. So, grab a drink, find a companion, and let the evening open like a well-loved map.
One more thing — as you wander, keep a sharp eye out for the brass-bound travel trunks scattered throughout the rooms. It’s a variation of a classic Rosavellan parlour game, where you find and touch each numbered trunk in its proper sequence. Upon reaching the tenth and final trunk, an illusory glamour will dissolve, revealing a hidden garden normally kept secret from the unobservant.
PASSPORT STAMPS
Inside your passport you'll find a ledger for tonight's milestones. Five charming stamps wait to be collected:
- The Crossed Matches - Two slender wooden matches crossed beneath a single glowing ember, hinting at sparks of inspiration and unity.
- The Alchemist’s Press - A small flask emitting soft, swirling vapours shaped like petals, set against a backdrop of interlocking circles.
- The Storyweaver's Emblem - Intertwined vines and petals forming a bridge between two figures, symbolising the bonds created by shared stories.
- The Scribe’s Seal - An open book with a quill resting across its pages, framed by curling vines of flowering azurite.
- The Mason’s Sigil - A sturdy stone arch crowned with blooming flowers, representing strength built with care and grace.
Each station in the Explorer’s Salon corresponds to one of these marks. Take part in an activity, and you’ll earn that station’s stamp. Beyond the satisfaction of filling a page, each stamp lets you claim a raffle ticket at the end of the night for the salon’s grand prize.
Some activities will automatically stamp your passport when completed. For the others, find Verso or Bulat — they'll be happy to mark your passport with a dab of Meramantic flair that makes the images gently sway on the page.
OOC Note: Collecting stamps is completely optional, so please don't feel any OOC pressure to keep score. If you'd rather skip the bookkeeping or simply handwave your character picking up a few stamps, that's perfectly fine. Either way, we want you to have fun!
ACTIVITIES
❀ THE MATCHBOOK - Crossed Matches
Location: Entrance foyer, just inside the front doors beside the guestbook.
Even on the most grand voyages to far-off shores, we all seek a light to guide us home. Why not strike a match and see who answers?
To find a companion in Rosavelle, fill out the questionnaire by the ornate enchanted lantern and slip it — discreetly! — into the nearby box. Your answers will be matched with another’s, and you’ll be invited to a curated date with a fellow traveller whose heart resonates with your own.
Each completed questionnaire makes the lantern glow a warm, rosy pink. It's delightfully mesmerising! You’ll also receive the Crossed Matches stamp as a keepsake.
Feel free to submit more than one questionnaire if you like... just know the box can spot duplicate or fake names. (And make sure to get OOC permission before entering another character into the proverbial hat! Submissions can be entered HERE.)
✿ TRAILBLAZER'S TONIC - Alchemist's Press
Location: Main Salon along a marble-topped sideboard facing the central seating area.
This station gleams with polished brass scales, crystal decanters, and silver-plated mixing tools that catch the warm light of the hall’s chandeliers.
You’re invited to stand elbow-to-elbow with a companion — new or old — and experiment with aromatic botanicals and spirits. It’s an icebreaker that invites conversation about tastes, travels, and moods.
If you want to infuse a particular scent, feeling, or memory into a drink shared with a friend, by all means. For those who prefer a little guidance, printed prompt cards line the bar to inspire pairings. Example prompts include:
- Warmth Shared Around a Campfire
Blend comforting spices and herbs that evoke connection, storytelling, and cosy gatherings.- The First Step on an Unknown Path
Create an invigorating, uplifting drink that sparks curiosity, courage, and new beginnings.- A Moment of Calm After a Long Journey
Craft a soothing, restorative blend to ease travel weariness and invite quiet rest.- A Place That Holds a Special Memory
Describe a meaningful location while your partner creates a blend inspired by your story.
... Of course, there's no guarantee you'll succeed. In fact, you may create something truly wild — and that's fine! No trip goes exactly to plan, and we don't mind getting a little messy here.
Whether you follow a prompt to capture a precise memory, toss in ingredients with reckless abandon, or simply enjoy whatever delightful chaos emerges, the point is to share a moment of creation as unique as the blend in your glass. Do that, and you’ll earn an Alchemist’s Press stamp in your Passport.
❀ STORY & SPARK - Storyweaver's Emblem
Location: Adjacent side parlours opening off the Main Salon.
Stories are the currency of the road, and tonight the exchange is open. Settle into the velvet depths of a wingback chair with a drink of your choice, paired with a companion for a session of old-fashioned storytelling. You may bring a partner, or a volunteer can introduce you to a new friend.
The intent? Sparking connections by bridging the gap between the places you've left and where you stand now.
Each exchange has two roles: Teller and Listener.
If you’re the Teller, you’ll — as you might expect — share a story tied to a place you’ve visited. The farther off, the better (though if Rosavelle is where your heart currently sits, that’s perfectly fine). Aim to paint a clear picture of what you experienced, how you felt, and how it changed you.
If you like, sprinkle in a pinch of Meramancy! Let the train’s chuff-and-clatter thrum through the floorboards or coax a frosty mist to curl around the chair legs as you speak. Not versed in Bloomcraft? That’s fine too — embellish for flair. We won’t judge. A little decorative truth only makes a good story sweeter.
If you're the Listener, your role is just as important. Stay present, ask gentle questions, and notice sensory details. If you've had a similar experience, share it in whatever way feels right.
The Listener's feelings are the heart of the exchange. Enchanted chandeliers above the chairs respond to those feelings. When a Listener truly connects with the Teller (even without realising it), the chandeliers shift hue to mirror the emotion that sparked the bond:
- Blue: A melancholy or quiet reflection
- Pink: Joy, mischief, or sudden wonder
- Purple: Bittersweet nostalgia or a hard-won peace
A change in the light means a real connection has been made, whether it’s felt consciously or just beneath the surface. Treat it as an invitation to linger a little longer. Dig into shared history, ask more questions, or simply sit in the warmth of the glow.
Attendants will kindly remind you to keep things kind and curious. This is a playful, respectful space meant to spark connection, not to pry. If a Listener grows uncomfortable, the Teller should steer the tale towards lighter ground or close the exchange with a shared toast.
Reward: For every exchange where the light shifts, both Teller and Listener receive the Storyweaver's Emblem stamped in their passports.
✿ WITH LOVE, FROM ROSAVELLE - Scribe's Seal
Location: A bright window bay off the Main Salon.
At this station, hand-pressed vellum leaves lie ready, each one etched with a copperplate scene of the Maerlys coast. Heavier and more substantial than a postcard, these cream-coloured sheets are prepared for your inscription. In fact, you'll find a variety of supplies here, including fountain pens and jars of shimmering ink.
While weaving a little magic into your words through Bibliomancy is highly encouraged and can make your message truly special, it’s not required. What matters most is the story, feeling, or hope you choose to share.
Here are some prompts to get you started, but feel free to write whatever speaks to you:
- To your past self: What advice or comfort would you send back to an earlier version of yourself?
- To your future self: What hopes or reminders would you like to share with who you’ll become?
- To someone back home: What stories or feelings do you want to send across the sea?
- To a new friend in Rosavelle: What would you like to share with this person to build a warmer connection? It could be a confession, an observation, or simply a sincere wish for them to have a happy future.
Once the ink is dry, your message is yours to command. You may keep it as a private talisman, hand it directly to a friend, or entrust it to an attendant to give to the nearest post house. Letters surrendered to the house's care should find their way to the right person within a few days.
If you are writing to your future self, simply indicate as much on the corner. You may find the letter arrives exactly when it is needed most!
Reward: Sealing your letter with wax will, through Bloomcraft, add the Scribe's Seal to your passport.
❀ TRAVELLER'S CAIRN - Mason's Sigil
Location: Sheltered corner of the garden courtyard under a vine-covered pergola.
Upon the mahogany table lies a scatter of sea-glass and stones, pulled from the Azurite Sea and dried beneath the Calyx. They are waiting for a weight that isn't physical.
Choose a stone that sits comfortably in your palm. Close your eyes and press a memory or a passing feeling from your days in Rosavelle into its grain — a burst of laughter, a pocket of evening calm, or the faint electric buzz of a secret. The cool stone will hold your imprint, and you're invited to slip it into the Cairn: a simple, growing stack of rocks imbued with our shared experiences in Rosavelle.
Are you new to Imprintwork, perhaps? That's okay! The island's magic responds to sincerity, not simply skill. Depending on your comfort with Bloomcraft, you might try:
- Adding a simple feeling or mood to your stone, like calm or warmth.
- Infusing your stone with a clear memory or gentle sensation that lasts longer.
- Creating an imprint others can feel or see, like a soft glow or subtle hum.
- Weaving layered emotions or protective magic into your stone’s imprint.
Every stone added to the Cairn is a vital ingredient for the night’s end! If you're having trouble, try sharing the memory or sensation with a friend to help bring it to life.
If the stone feels unfinished, you'll find supplies on the table — scraps of lace, waxed cords, and silk pouches — to bind your Imprint. For basic Imprints, however, your hands alone are probably the only tools you'll need.
Reward: Every stone you add to the Cairn writes another line in the story of your time with others in Rosavelle. As a small thank-you, you'll also receive a Mason's Sigil stamped in your passport.
At nightfall, your Imprints pass into the hands of Akane. Under her skilled craftsmanship, they will be distilled into a singular, iridescent cordial steeped in the shared experiences you've left behind. The final drink awaits us in the gardens. It is said that when shared in the night air, the drink tastes not of what we brought to Rosavelle, but of what we are meant to find here.
THE SECRET GARDEN
On a stone table nearby, Cheria has left two cakes, each a delicate arrangement of soft sponge and flowery lace.
The first is a Honey & Sea-Salt Sponge, decorated with edible flowers that match the ones in the garden. It's meant for those who wish to enjoy the evening exactly as-is. The second is its twin in beauty, but it has been baked with a happiness charm. It offers a gentle lift for those who might be feeling the weight of the day, a small way to ensure the evening ends on a lighter note.
Whether you prefer to let a little bit of Bloomcraft help you along or you’d rather stay grounded in the simple sweetness of the garden, the invitation is yours to take.
In addition, you're given a small travel bag that's been Imprinted to offer a quiet openness to new experiences for the duration of the event. Each bag is lovingly stitched with a small patch of Yoojin's bird, Peep-Peep, and every one has its own unique seam color, making it a personal keepsake.
Of course, this is an event that rewards curiosity, and for many guests, that curiosity will lead towards the mystery of the trunks. For those who follow the hunt to its conclusion, the reward is a transformation of the hall itself. As your hand brushes the tenth and final lid, the wall before you simply fades away, allowing you to step out of the busy salon and into a pocket of peace and tranquility... and leaving you in a space that feels entirely your own.
At the centre of the garden is a shallow reflection pool filled with dark water and floating petals. It’s a local tradition to toss a coin here; as the ripples catch the light, it feels as if the garden is listening to your wish and offering a bit of luck in return. Above the water, glass globes hang from the trees like glowing lanterns, their light shifting slowly from rose to amber to keep the mood warm and intimate.
The paths are never truly dark, lit by special flowers that only open at night to cast a soft, blue glow over the grass. Nearby, Verso’s gramophone makes a return appearance, accompanied by a crate of records from his personal collection — including a couple of selections that didn't quite make the cut for the Unbirthday list.
A low planting table towards the back offers guests a quiet place to practise flower-based Bloomcraft. Here, you can coax night-flowers to bloom, tune the glowing flowers' light, and scent a drink with a careful touch.
In the corner, small braziers flicker with warm fires. A stone sideboard nearby is stocked with everything you need to settle in: fluted glasses of chilled pear and elderflower cordial, savoury skewers of honey-glazed vegetables and cheese to toast over the flames, and a light shortbread. It’s a place meant for spending time with friends, a spot to share a toasted treat and a sincere story before the night comes to an end.
Towards the final 20 minutes of the evening, volunteers will guide any remaining guests to the hidden garden so that no one misses the finale. Once gathered, everyone will receive a final cordial... freshly brewed by Akane from the collective impressions stored within the Traveller's Cairn, a literal taste of the stories shared tonight.
As you take a sip, a gentle warmth spreads from your chest to your fingertips, much like the first true rays of summer sun soaking into your skin. The cordial tastes of sun-ripened strawberries and cool, crisp melon, smoothed over by a faint sweetness that lingers like a long-awaited afternoon rest.
In that moment, a quiet clarity washes over you: the burdens you carry are not yours to bear alone. You might find your eyes meeting a stranger's across the pool, and in that shared glance, you may come away with the keen feeling that, although you have travelled different roads, they have all brought you to this same shore. Your struggles are not a solitary island, but part of a greater community that surrounds you tonight.
In Rosavelle, a helping hand is always just an arm's reach away.
"Thank you for being here," Verso tells everyone. "Safe travels home, and good night."
A beat, before he wryly adds:
"...Try not to break anything on the way out."

Prize Descriptions
- Raffle tickets! 1 stamp = 1 ticket.
- Brave Band — A soft, silk-like band embroidered with tiny flowers that wraps comfortably around your arm. Once, when your words fumble or your hands go shaky, slip it on and call a Moment of Poise. Your thoughts clear, the right words come more easily, and you steady yourself enough to get through a difficult conversation, an apology, or a short speech. Single use.
- Calyx Pin — Small enamel pin shaped like a blossoming calyx. Certain vendors and artisans around the city recognise the pin and will warmly welcome you, share insider travel tips about the island, and sometimes even offer a friendly discount.
- Story, Shell & Seek Set - A mouthful, but the grand prize nonetheless. Winner chosen after the raffle.
- The Traveller's Log - A high-quality leather journal with a few pages already filled by other travellers’ tips about the island. Its enchanted paper makes sketches shift gently. For example, a drawn ocean ripples, a sketched friend blinks, or a map’s compass needle turns. Refillable; new entries subtly animate when added.
- Message Shell - An iridescent spiral shell with a copper seal. Whisper one sentence into it, seal it, and give it to someone. When they unseal it, they hear the whisper exactly as recorded.
- The Heartward Needle - A small, ornate compass whose needle never points north. Instead it's touched with a bit of Bloomcraft; when you hold it and focus on a particular feeling (safety, wonder, calm, courage, etc.), the needle swings and settles towards the nearest place or person in Rosavelle currently embodying that feeling. It won't name the target — only the direction — and it sometimes drifts when the feeling is mixed.
